What's In Your Bag? The Dos and Don'ts of Travel Prep

It takes a lot of work to prepare to go on a trip, right? After all the planning and itinerary, you would think the only thing left to do would be to embark. But there are some important travel preparations to do first. Take the time to properly prepare for your trip and you will enjoy a more pleasant travel experience.

All Points Limousine Service delivers luxurious limo service in Massachusetts with a proven safety record. The transportation we offer is affordable and easy to book. Arrange a ride from our chauffeurs in one of our top-of-the-line vehicles online or give us a call to get it done quickly and easily the old-fashioned way. Let us worry about your drive, so you can focus on the important details of your trip–like whether you've packed correctly. Below is a list of dos and don’ts before going on a trip.

Do: Research the Weather

We see all kinds of weather in our work conducting Massachusetts airport transfers for our clients. Here, it snows, rains and gives us sunburns all in the same week sometimes. You wouldn't want to be caught unaware at any destination, especially if the weather is as fickle there as it is in Boston. So, get a taste of the weather you're headed by doing some research into historical weather data for the time of year. Pack for the typical weather patterns, but don't be afraid to pack a light waterproof windbreaker if there's any chance of rain or a knit hat if it gets cold at night. Alternatively, the budget for a few spur-of-the-moment clothing purchases.

Don't: Pack Items That Aren't Allowed Through Security

Save yourself a ton of time and frustration by checking out Logan Airport and the TSA's list of disallowed items before you pack. We'd hate for you to bulk buy sunscreen only to find out you can't bring it on your flight. Additionally, measure your suitcase and be prepared to check your bags if they don't fit in the overhead. These days, airlines often charge for checked bags, so budgeting for this is helpful.

Do: Pack Your Toiletries in a Separate, Small Bag

If you don't have a hygiene kit, you may want to invest in one. These little bags can hold toothbrushes, toothpaste, razors, travel hygiene products and more. We love them for a few reasons. Firstly, they make finding things easier when you're on the go, say at the airport and want to brush your teeth after an aromatic taco. Secondly, you can keep one packed all the time, so all you have to do is toss it in your suitcase. Finally, it prevents accidents like leaking shaving cream or contact lens solution from creating a disaster in your suitcase.

Don't: Pack a Bunch of Cash

We want you to travel safely, and that includes using cards instead of cash. Definitely keep some cash but keeping lots of it puts you at risk of being in an awkward situation if you lose it or someone steals it. If you want to be extra safe, pack a 'dummy wallet' with old credit cards, library cards and a license with only a few bucks in it. Use this, and if someone takes it, you won't lose much.

Do: Speak to People Who Live Where You're Going

Sure, you can get some great information from guidebooks and their online counterparts, but locals know your destination best. Looking for a great place to stay or eat? Find a forum or social media page where locals chat and ask them. They know better than anyone what places currently have the best eats and what to avoid. If you're the type of traveler who loves to avoid other tourists and is not interested in being in overcrowded museums all day, this is the way to find out what the locals do for fun.

Don't: Forget to Book Your Return Ride With Us

You're understandably in a big hurry to go on vacation, but don't forget, we can take you home from the airport in Massachusetts too. Book your ride home with us when you book your car to the airport, and you won't have to worry when you land. All Points Limousine Service will be there to get you and all of your souvenirs home safely so book your limo service in Massachusetts as soon as possible.

Do: Make the Most of Travel Apps

One of your best resources is right in your pocket. There are a number of apps you can download on your phone to help you organize your trip. Your hotel may have an app, you can find apps that help locate the best restaurants, and you can even map out road trips with some apps. Download and test-drive these apps before you go to make the most of them.
Travel doesn't have to be the stressful mess it's sometimes made out to be. If you plan ahead, and let our chauffeurs take care of your ride, your trip can be smooth, safe and memorable.
